Events

Below you can see the last 10 Events in our house - things like doors opening/closing, motion, temperatures, time, light intensity can all be used ton trigger automated tasks to be executed by our HA system.



Temperatures

Sensors throughout the house (and outside) are used to gather information about both temperature and humidity. This information can be used to determine the comfort level and for example decide to turn on the central heating or lower some roller shutters.

Controlling Lights & Appliances

Plugin- and micro modules are used to control about 90% of all our lights and all the appliances for which it's useful. All this can be controlled from our smartphones with a WebApp and from 2 touchscreens in the house (1 on each floor).

Sunset/Sunrise

Sunset and sunrise are automatically calculated each day based on our location (GPS coordinates). These times are important because they are used to decide when to automatically switch on some lights in the living room and outside. Another 'input' that's being used for is a light intensity sensor, so that it adapts to the weather conditions.

Opentherm

Since November 2012 I'm monitoring and controlling my central heating with a DIY OpenTherm Gateway. With a PCB, 2 hours of soldering and a total costs of approx. 40 Euros you've got a device that can decode the OpenTherm communication between your thermostat and boiler system.

Water consumption

With 2 water meters we keep an eye on our cold and hot water usage. Both water meters have a pulse output (1 pulse per liter). Started collecting this data in 2007.

Temperature Control
